A Relocation to the River City

RICHMOND VA

Life happens. That is for sure. Sometimes bad, Sometimes good. In my case good.

SugarTree WoodWerks is not my main gig. I have a day job still. I wish this was not the case, but I have my goals for the future to change this. Pursue your passions right?

A few months ago, an opportunity presented itself that I had to take advantage of. A new position as a Project Analyst. This opportunity would afford me a more structured schedule with less stress. This translates to more time and energy to focus on SugarTree WoodWerks. This ultimately moves the goal forward towards 100 percent SugarTree WoodWerks. The only catch was I needed to relocate to a new city.

So the mission was to move from Chesapeake to Richmond Virginia.

Within a months time, the shop was packed up and placed into storage, the house sold, and the rest of the belongings loaded into a truck. We hit the road to take the 2 hour trek to begin our new adventure. It was a lot of work, but well worth it.

Richmond, Virginia the “River City”

Currently I am in a rental house with no garage or basement. Sadly no place for a shop. I don’t have my equipment and have limited ability to craft your custom products.

The goal is to purchase a house but this time on some land, with a larger dedicated shop! So excited about this and what this will mean for Sugartree Woodwerks. More to come on that. Finding the right spot takes time and patience.

In the meantime I have been using my makeshift shop. This is composed of a folding table outside and hand tools. I have been making signs and it has been interesting for sure. I will not let the lack of a shop stop me from creating. If you want something, there is always a way right?

I can’t wait to find a new base of operations for Sugartree Woodwerks. I will be sure to share and bring you along as this space is setup!

In the meantime should you want a Woodburned sign click the contact link and let me know what you have in mind. Despite not having a shop, i can still woodburn and incorporate colored epoxy into something awesome for you!

Sign made for Pulp Fiction Coffee Shop, which is a local coffee shop located in the Lakeside area of Richmond.

I love exploring the the River City. I hope to become a part of the community offering custom woodwerks soon. To celebrate the big move, please enjoy these random pictures I took during my explorations!!
